MoCI shuts two shops selling counterfeit items

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27: Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced the seizure of 1,145 counterfeit and non-compliant items during inspection campaigns at two commercial establishments in the Ahmadi and Hawally governorates. Al-Ansari explained that the seized items included women’s handbags, shoes, watches, accessories, and jewelry bearing international brand names. All items were confiscated, and the two establishments were closed pending referral of the violations to the competent authorities for legal action. The campaigns resulted in the seizure of 880 counterfeit items in Ahmadi and 265 non-compliant items in Hawally, as part of the ministry’s ongoing inspection rounds. Al-Ansari affirmed the ministry’s continued commitment to enforcing market controls and protecting intellectual property rights, urging consumers to report any violations through official channels.
