KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Faisal Al-Ansari issued a directive to intensify field inspections, even during official holidays. In a press statement, Al-Ansari disclosed that Head of Rai Center Faraj Al-Mutairi and Commercial Inspector Ali Al-Owaihan uncovered a violation during a recent field inspection, leading to the closure of a stall in the Friday Market for selling items bearing forged trademarks.
Around 800 counterfeit items, including women’s shoes and handbags bearing fake trademarks, were confiscated. This is a violation of intellectual property rights and anti-commercial fraud laws. Al-Ansari confirmed that a report was filed regarding the incident and it will be referred to the Commercial Prosecution to complete the necessary legal procedures. He stressed that the ministry does not tolerate those who sell counterfeit goods in order to protect the rights of consumers and the original trademark owners, as well as to promote a fair and regulated commercial environment.
