LOS ANGELES, Nov 4, (Agencies): Missy Elliott has achieved an extraordinary milestone by being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, making her the very first female rapper to receive this prestigious honor. Queen Latifah, a fellow trailblazing artist, delivered the introductory speech, emphasizing Elliott’s groundbreaking contributions to the industry. The induction ceremony featured a compelling video package with appearances by Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B, followed by an electrifying career-spanning performance by Missy Elliott herself.

Queen Latifah’s speech was a heartfelt tribute to Elliott’s character and achievements, while Elliott, moved by the moment, took the microphone and delivered an emotional speech expressing her gratitude to all those who supported her journey.

Missy Elliott now joins a select group of hip-hop artists who have earned their place in the Rock Hall, alongside legendary acts like Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Eminem, Public Enemy, and Jay-Z. In addition to Elliott’s induction, DJ Kool Herc was also honored with the Musical Influence Award for his pioneering contributions to hip-hop culture.

The class of 2023’s musician inductees includes iconic figures such as Kate Bush, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, and the Spinners.

Since her 2019 EP “Iconology,” Missy Elliott has continued to leave her mark on the music scene with guest appearances on tracks by artists like Dua Lipa, Teyana Taylor, Skrillex, and more. In 2022, her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia paid tribute to the superstar by renaming a street “Missy Elliott Boulevard,” a year after she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Notably, at the Grammys in February, Missy Elliott was honored with a Global Impact Award and joined an illustrious lineup including Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and many others for a grand performance commemorating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
