Missing Indian Found Buried Months Later in Kuwait's Al-Salmi Desert; Suspect Confesses to Secret Burial

KUWAIT CITY, Jul 7: A months-long mystery surrounding the disappearance of an Indian resident has ended in a shocking discovery after Kuwaiti authorities uncovered his body buried in the Al-Salmi desert, exposing an alleged attempt to conceal a fatal workplace incident.

The breakthrough came during an intensive investigation by the Criminal Security Sector's General Department of Criminal Investigation, which pieced together the victim's final movements and uncovered what officials describe as a deliberate cover-up.

According to investigators, the Indian resident vanished on March 19, 2026, after traveling to the Al-Salmi desert with the owner of heavy equipment to carry out maintenance work. When he failed to return and all contact was lost, a missing person investigation was launched.

Investigators reviewed traffic surveillance footage, which revealed the victim entering the desert with the suspect. However, when the vehicle returned, the Indian worker was no longer inside—raising immediate suspicions that something had gone terribly wrong.

The investigation took a dramatic turn when police arrested the suspect's son. Faced with mounting evidence, he allegedly confessed that the worker had been fatally crushed after a crane collapsed during the maintenance operation.

Instead of reporting the tragic accident to authorities, the son admitted that he and his father secretly transported the victim's body to a remote area of the Al-Salmi desert, buried it, and attempted to erase all traces of the incident out of fear of legal consequences.

Guided by the suspect's confession, security forces located the burial site. Specialists from the General Department of Criminal Evidence, forensic teams, and the General Fire Force recovered the body before it was transferred on the orders of the Public Prosecution for further examination.

One suspect has been detained and referred to the competent authorities, while efforts are continuing to locate and arrest the second suspect, who is believed to have fled Kuwait.

The Ministry of Interior said the case demonstrates the effectiveness of its criminal investigation teams in uncovering hidden crimes and bringing those responsible to justice, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining public safety and enforcing the rule of law.
