Miss Nicaragua wins 2023 Miss Universe pageant

WASHINGTON, Nov 19, (Agencies): A fresh Miss Universe has emerged victoriously, claiming the highly sought-after crown! Miss Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios, clinched the title of Miss Universe 2023 on Saturday, following a riveting evening of competition at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The suspense reached its peak when, just before the announcement of the winner, Miss Nicaragua and Miss Thailand stood side by side on stage, hands clasped together, enveloped in darkness, save for a spotlight illuminating the two finalists. A hushed anticipation filled the venue as both contestants, eyes closed, awaited the proclamation of the victor. Then, breaking the silence, a voice declared, “Nicaragua!”

The 72nd Miss Universe, visibly moved by her triumph, reacted emotionally, shedding tears of joy and raising her trembling hands to her face amidst the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd. The culmination of the evening featured last year’s titleholder, R’Bonney Gabriel, 29, passing on the coveted crown to Palacios, signifying the official transition of Miss Universe.

Securing the third position in the competition as the second runner-up was Miss Australia. Palacios not only became the first Nicaraguan to seize the Miss Universe title but also marked the fifth instance of Nicaragua placing in the semifinals.

Taking to social media, the newly crowned Miss Universe shared her elation by posting multiple images adorned with her new crown. Accompanying the visuals was the caption “Hello Universe” in English, along with a message in Spanish expressing gratitude for making history together with her fellow Nicaraguans.
