KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: The Juvenile Court sentenced a minor to a one-year term in a social welfare institution after he was convicted of sexually molesting his nephew. The civil court awarded a compensation of KD 10,000 to the victim, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Public Prosecution had charged the minor with sexually abusing his nephew, who was unable to resist due to his young age.

The suspect had lured the victim into a room inside his house and committed the crime. Lawyer Youssef Hussein, who represented the victim and his family at the court, sought compensation because the crime had caused immense trauma in the young victim, which not only impacted his emotional well-being but also harmed his dignity and standing within his family and community. The court acknowledged the profound emotional pain experienced by the victim and awarded compensation worth KD 10,000 as symbolic relief. The court also ordered that the compensation be paid by the guardian of the convicted minor.
