KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: Director of the Medical Emergency Department in the Ministry of Health Mundhir Al-Jalahima has affirmed the suspension of air ambulance service due to the expiration of the contract signed by the ministry and the operating company in 2014.

In a press statement, Al-Jalahima said there is no alternative to the air medical emergency service in the country, but the public should rest assured that the concerned authority has provided ambulances with good geographical coverage. Since the expiration of the air medical emergency service, about 90 ambulances have been distributed in various parts of the country, he added. “Alternative plans are in place while waiting for the extension of the contract and the number ambulances totaled 186 vehicles – 80 to 85 of which are in service daily,” Al-Jalahima noted.
