KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: In a recent development, Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Muhammad Al-Aiban, has issued a ministerial decision to eliminate 42 food items from the ration card. The decision follows an in-depth study by the Permanent Committee for Regulating Categories of Discounted and Discounted Food Supplies, which emphasized the importance of considering both nutritional and health standards in the components of the food supply, extending beyond nutritional criteria alone.

According to sources, the canceled items were originally provided at reduced prices and were not subsidized. The list includes various products such as cup cheese, flavored milk, rahash, tahini, cookies, maamoul, biscuits, burgers, meatballs, minced meat, cornflakes, certain types of tea, cream, halloumi, labneh, mozzarella, shrimp, and fish slices.

The recent list of items on the ration card, whether subsidized or discounted, comprised a total of 154 commodities, including 94 subsidized and approximately 60 discounted food items. With this decision, the recalculated total of subsidized and discounted food items in the supply system may now be reduced to around 112 items.
