KUWAIT CITY, July 16: The Ministry of Interior has introduced a new initiative to streamline the fingerprinting process for Kuwaitis and expats by installing biometric fingerprinting devices in various commercial malls. The Avenues Mall was the first of five complexes to offer this service, and it has already witnessed significant demand. In just two days, approximately 500 citizens successfully completed the fingerprinting procedure.

According to well-informed security sources, the next complexes to receive those interested in fingerprinting will be 360 Mall and Al Kout, starting from today, Monday. The Ministry has implemented the biometric fingerprint application system across these complexes, allowing individuals to easily complete the procedure, reports Al Rai. Visitors to these complexes no longer need to schedule appointments in advance. Instead, they can directly approach the dedicated devices, obtain a waiting number, and complete the fingerprinting process within a maximum wait time of five minutes.

Each complex will be equipped with two fingerprint-taking devices, bringing the total count to 10 devices across these major shopping malls. Furthermore, fingerprint centers are being established in various governorates and at land, air, and sea outlets to ensure widespread accessibility.

The success of this initiative and the duration of the fingerprint centers’ operation within the complexes are tied to the functioning hours of the malls themselves. The General Department of Criminal Evidence is diligently progressing with the project, aligning with the existing plan to fingerprint all citizens, residents, and visitors. The department is working diligently to maintain the highest standards of quality control, ensuring the security and accuracy of each individual’s fingerprint.

With this innovative approach, the Ministry of Interior aims to enhance convenience and efficiency in the fingerprinting process, facilitating the implementation of this vital security measure across the nation.
