KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: With the new scholastic year 2021/2022 just around the corner, the Ministry of Education is looking for cleaning workers to work in two shifts (morning and evening), reports Al-Jarida daily quoting ministry sources. The sources said the ministry is suffering from a shortage of cleaning workers, due to the inability of cleaning companies to provide workers due to the Covid-19 pandemic and severe shortage of these workers in the local market, with companies unable to import foreign labor.

The sources pointed out a large number of companies have expressed their unwillingness to renew contracts with the Ministry of Education and reluctant to sign new contracts due to the unavailability and fear of falling into problems with the law which most often than not result in fines citing delay of completion of work. The sources pointed out the ministry has discussed with the cleaning companies the possibility of employing workers in two-shift system (morning and evening) to contribute to the completion of work and cleaning schools as required, pointing out that meetings were held with directors of educational zones to start arranging working hours for workers, and providing supervisors from the regions to monitor work and ensure the safety of schools and its facilities
