Ministry of Education prepares for academic year

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei said Sunday that the launch of educational cultural centers is part of the Ministry of Education’s strategy to prepare students for the upcoming academic year, review and reinforce basic skills, and address learning gaps through engaging and motivating teaching methods, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Al-Tabtabaei made the remarks during an inspection tour of the educational cultural center at Khaled Al-Mudhaf School in the Capital Educational Zone, accompanied by Undersecretary Khaled Al-Rashid and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Hamad Al-Hamad.

During the tour, Al-Tabtabaei reviewed the educational programs offered to students, monitored their implementation, and assessed student participation. According to a statement issued by the ministry, Al-Tabtabaei emphasized the importance of utilizing the summer break to support academic achievement and restore students’ motivation to learn, preparing them to return to school with greater confidence and readiness. During the tour, Minister Al-Tabtabaei reviewed the educational programs offered and received an explanation of the implementation mechanism for the educational plan and the targeted skills in core subjects. He observed some classes and interactive activities and met with a number of students, as well as the educational and supervisory staff at the center.

According to the statement, Al-Tabtabaei noted that the increasing turnout at the educational cultural centers reflects the interest of students and parents in summer educational programs. He said 7,560 students have registered at 12 free educational cultural centers serving students from first through ninth grade. Based on this high demand and the ministry’s commitment to providing the largest possible number of students with access to the educational programs offered, Al-Tabtabaei directed that the operating period of the educational cultural centers be extended by an additional week, with the programs now continuing until August 27 instead of August 19.

The Minister of Education emphasized that the centers aim to provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience through active learning methods, learning through play, and peer learning, in addition to interactive activities, workshops, and competitions. He stressed the importance of continuously monitoring the quality of the programs offered and assessing the extent to which students benefit from them to ensure the achievement of the desired educational objectives and the optimal use of the summer vacation. Al-Tabtabaei praised the efforts of the educational, administrative, and supervisory staff working at the centers and their role in ensuring the success of the programs and providing a stimulating learning environment for students. It is worth noting that the cultural and educational centers, whose programs began on August 2, offer free foundational programs in Arabic, English, and mathematics based on educational plans prepared by the technical guidance departments. The programs focus on developing the essential skills and concepts students need to transition more effectively to the next stage of their education.
