Minister sacks 4 board members

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah has issued a decision to dismiss four members of the Ardiya Cooperative Society’s board of directors following serious administrative and financial violations identified by the ministry’s specialized inspection and oversight teams. The minister explained that the investigation uncovered violations requiring legal accountability.

The decision also includes referring the violators to the Public Prosecution for necessary legal action, and initiating investigations into several supervisors and employees of the Inspection and Oversight Department for negligence in performing their duties, as revealed by the inspection. In addition, the ministry has suspended dealings with the auditing firm contracted by the cooperative society.

Al-Huwailah emphasized that these measures reinforce the ministry’s commitment to establishing the principles of governance, transparency, and integrity in cooperative work, ensuring the protection of public funds and holding accountable anyone whose actions undermine the integrity of cooperative work. Oversight of cooperative societies will continue rigorously, with legal action taken against any negligence or violations, while ensuring that shareholder services remain uninterrupted.
