Minister queried on systems breakdown

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: MP Osama Al-Menawer has forwarded queries to Minister of Justice and State Minister for Nazaha (Integrity) Enhancement Jamal Al-Jalawi on the automated systems and computer networks in his ministry. He wants to know the number of times that the automated and computer systems broke down from Jan 1, 2019 till date; if any data were damaged due to the breakdown; if yes, what steps were taken to address the problem; if the ministry called the concerned security authorities to investigate and determine if the breakdown was deliberate; plan adopted by the ministry to prevent the recurrence of such breakdowns; if information regarding the Public Prosecution and courts were stored in the system; and number of illegal travel ban and arrest orders that were recorded so far.

Al-Menawer also asked the minister about the number and value of real estate deals reviewed by the concerned department in the Ministry of Justice from Jan 1, 2022 till date; number of deals exempted from the regulation that real estate deals worth above KD300,000 should be referred to the experts who approve the evaluation of the deals and reasons behind the exemption; number of deals which have been suspended since Jan 1, 2019 till date due to erroneous evaluation; and if money laundering cases were discovered. In another development, MP Ahmed Al-Hamad congratulated the political leadership and the people of Kuwait on the National Day. He is against calls for suspending the celebration of National Day, stressing this commemoration depicts national unity and a chance to remember important events that left an indelible mark in the history of the country.

He added that celebrating the National Day brings to mind the remarkable achievements of the people and political leadership, especially commemorating the Father of the Constitution of Kuwait, HH the late Sheikh Abdullah Al- Salem who laid down the foundations for defining the relationship between the citizens and the ruler. He urged his fellow citizens to adhere to the Constitution, which guarantees the freedom and rights of the people.
