Kuwait moves to replace expatriates with nationals in Municipality jobs
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: In a move aimed at bolstering national employment, Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, has issued a directive to end the services of expatriate staff within the municipality. The directive specifically targets expatriates holding university degrees in the executive body of the municipality, including those in legal, engineering, accounting, and administrative roles.
According to the directive, which was communicated to the Director General of the Municipality Saud Al-Dubous, all expatriate employees in these fields are to be terminated. The decision requires the provision of a copy to the minister within three working days.
Furthermore, the directive includes a mandate to prepare a ministerial decision to end the services of expatriate legal advisors in the legal department and other departments affiliated with the minister, also within three working days.
Minister Al-Mishaan stated that this directive is part of a broader effort to support and utilize the national workforce, asserting that there are sufficient national cadres available to handle these roles effectively.
