Minister lauds defence forces for protecting, defending nation

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17, (KUNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah commended the Air Force personnel and military commandos for defending and protecting the State of Kuwait and its nation. In a press statement he issued on the sidelines of a military drill titled “2017 Whirlwind”, which was organized by Kuwaiti Air Force with live ammunition on Al-Adree grounds, the minister said the Kuwaiti Air Force maintains the highest level of military preparedness and combat readiness.

Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled explained that the new military drill will involve all sections of the armed forces as well as the participation of Ministry of Interior and the National Guard. “All these institutions are one and are working for the sake of protecting the country and its people”.

The “2017 Whirlwind” will focus on air-land coordination between the Air Force officers and the commandos. He indicated that he was quite pleased with what he saw in terms of the performance of the units participating in the training drill. The minister affirmed that Kuwait is a peaceful country and its military is a defensive force. He beseeched Almighty Allah to protect Kuwait and its people from every evil under its wise leadership.

Those present during the training was Chief of General Staff of Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Mohammed Khaled Al-Kadar, his deputy Lieutenant General Sheikh Abdullah Al- Nawaf, Undersecretary of the National Guard Lieutenant General Hashim Abdul- Razzaq Al-Refai, Director General of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Mekrad and several other security and military officials.
