KUWAIT CITY, May 30: The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant-General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf has called for the allocation of land for the construction of public parking lots for trucks in the northern, central and southern parts of the country, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a letter addressed to the Kuwait Municipality, he said the reason behind this decision is the parking and overcrowding of trucks in residential neighborhoods, which contributed to an increase in overcrowding within the residential areas, turning them into private parking spaces and leaving them, causing damage to the road infrastructure, and breaching security.

Lieutenant General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf explained that these trucks have become a source of inconvenience and anxiety for the residents of those areas due to the lack of places designated for parking. The ministry deals with complaints received regarding the parking of trucks in residential neighborhoods, and industrial, commercial and investment areas by issuing traffic citations against these trucks by patrol teams and during inspection campaigns.

He stressed the interest of the Ministry of Interior to find a mechanism for this issue, expressing his hope that land will be allocated quickly to establish public parking lots for trucks in the northern, central and southern parts of the State of Kuwait in accordance with the procedures followed.
