Minister Al-Jalahma pledges full support for Kuwaiti Clubs in international competitions

Al-Jalahma meets with the first-team players and coaching staff ahead of Kuwait Club upcoming Asian Challenge Cup quarter-final against Oman’s Al-Shabab.

DAMMAM, Saudi Arabia, April 4: KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting local clubs through infrastructure development and creating optimal conditions for technical and physical preparation, aiming to boost competitiveness and achieve sporting success.

Al-Jalahma recently visited the Kuwait Club, meeting with the first-team players and coaching staff ahead of their upcoming Asian Challenge Cup quarter-final against Oman’s Al-Shabab on April 19.

He described participation in continental competitions as a “national responsibility” requiring discipline, commitment, and fighting spirit, expressing confidence in the players’ ability to represent Kuwait honorably. He also noted that fans eagerly expect performances worthy of Al-Abyad’s proud history.

The minister announced plans to visit Al-Qadsia Club, reaffirming his ongoing support for clubs and their presence in both regional and continental competitions. Regarding the new sports law, Al-Jalahma stated: “We will address each matter at the right time and are working to finalize the law in the best form possible.”

Players expressed gratitude for the visit, highlighting the leadership’s support and reaffirming their determination to perform at their best and elevate Kuwait’s name in the tournament.

Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem praised the state’s support for sports and emphasized the importance of representing Kuwait with distinction. On the suspension of domestic competitions, he said:

“Postponing the season is the most suitable option, as agreed by the clubs, similar to what happened in 2002 and during the COVID-19 pandemic with Al-Qadsia and Al-Arabi.”

He also confirmed support for Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousuf in the upcoming Football Association presidential election, with the final decision to be made in consultation with all clubs.

Kuwait Club kicked off its training camp yesterday in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with sessions continuing today. The two-week camp will include two friendly matches before the team departs for Kyrgyzstan to face Al-Shabab in the Asian Challenge Cup.
