The Embassy of Mexico to the State of Kuwait proudly commemorates the 216th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence, a historic national occasion that celebrates the beginning of Mexico’s independence movement on 16th September 1810 and reflects the enduring values of freedom, sovereignty, unity and national identity.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of Mexico to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller conveyed his warmest greetings and reaffirmed Mexico’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation between Mexico and Kuwait.
“Mexico and Kuwait share a relationship founded on mutual respect, constructive dialogue and a common commitment to international cooperation. As we celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day, we look forward to continuing to build bridges between our two countries and to identifying new opportunities for cooperation that can further benefit our peoples,” the Ambassador stated.
Diplomatic relations between Mexico and Kuwait were established in 1975, and over the past five decades the relationship has steadily expanded across political, economic, cultural and people-to-people dimensions. The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, celebrated in 2025, provided a particularly meaningful opportunity to highlight the depth of these ties and to renew the commitment of both countries to expanding bilateral cooperation.
Mexico attaches great importance to its relations with the State of Kuwait and highly values Kuwait’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes and international cooperation. Mexico likewise remains committed to working closely with Kuwait within the United Nations and other multilateral forums in support of peace, sustainable development, international law and effective multilateralism.
The year 2026 is also particularly significant for Mexico on the international stage, as Mexico is co-hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026 together with Canada and the United States. Mexico will make history as the first country to host the FIFA World Cup for a third time, with matches being held in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
The World Cup represents not only a major sporting celebration, but also an opportunity to promote cultural exchange, tourism, friendship and closer understanding among peoples. In this context, the Embassy looks forward to encouraging greater sports cooperation between Mexico and Kuwait, particularly in football, youth development, sports training, exchanges of expertise and institutional cooperation.
The Embassy of Mexico takes this opportunity to express its sincere appreciation to the Government and people of the State of Kuwait for their continued friendship, hospitality and support, and for the warm environment extended to the Mexican community in Kuwait and recognizes Kuwait’s historic role as a mediator and promoter of stability in the Middle East and hopes that soon peace and prosperity will once again become the hallmark of the Arab Gulf countries.
On the occasion of this important national celebration, Mexico extends its warmest wishes for the continued prosperity, stability and well-being of the State of Kuwait and its generous people, and reaffirms its determination to further deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and Kuwait.
¡Viva Kuwait! ¡Viva Mexico!
Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller
Ambassador
