KUWAIT CITY, May 9: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Adel Al-Zamel formed a team tasked to respond to the questions of the State Audit Bureau (SAB) about the KD18.437 million tender for upgrading the data collection and analysis equipment for power generation plants and main substations. The ministry returned the tender to SAB for oversight, audit, review and approval in order to c o m m e n c e work aimed at upgrading the equipment used for collecting data from production and transmission stations. In another development, the ministry is establishing electricity substations in Omariya, Hadiya, Adan, Farwaniya and Qurain in light of the expansion of high and extra-high voltage electricity networks and the need for continuous power supply to meet the increasing demand for electricity in these areas, taking into consideration their population density.
Another objective is to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply to accommodate the increasing quantity of power generated by power plants, since substations serve as the link between secondary substations and production plants. Moreover, the Electricity Transmission Networks Sector at the ministry will install underground cables for the substations in these areas. Two tenders will be issued for this project -- one for the substations and the other for the cables. The ministry included these tenders in its contracts for the current fiscal year, which the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) will offer to eligible companies registered under it and wish to participate in the bidding.
