MEW intends to launch smart parking system to solve crisis

Many buildings with high number of employees lack sufficient spaces for parking

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services at Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng Mohammad Al-Sharhan revealed that the ministry is planning to benefit from the current technological progress in launching smart parking in order to solve the crisis of parking in the ministry, after which the experiment will be extended to other ministries and governmental agencies, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Sharhan explained that the ministry will install smart parking units in the spaces allocated for them within the walls of Ministry of Electricity and Water to ascertain their effectiveness. Many buildings with high number of employees lack sufficient spaces for parking due to which the ministry has started seeking alternatives to deal with the crises using simple methods.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Finance intends to separate the budget of Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) from the budget from Ministry of Public Works from the coming fiscal year, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source from Ministry of Public Works.

He explained that the ministry’s budget for the current year reached KD 930 million, which includes KD 530 million for PART, while the remaining KD 400 million is intended for the remaining sectors of the ministry. PART will request Ministry of Finance in the coming phase to increase the financial allocations for covering the costs of the projects carried out in line with the project schedules.
