MEW intends to float 3 tenders for ‘standby’ diesel generators

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Assistant Undersecretary for Electrical Distribution Networks Mutlaq Al-Otaibi said the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) intends to float three tenders for standby diesel generators to support the generators it already owns, whether for the supply of new generators or maintenance of existing generators, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Otaibi said in a press statement that the first tender is for the maintenance of diesel generators owned by the ministry and the duration will be for three years saying it is the first time the ministry opts to float a tender for the maintenance of diesel generators. He added that the second tender is for the transfer of diesel generators, so that the responsibility for safety will be the responsibility of those winning the contract.

He explained the third tender includes the supply and purchase of 50 diesel generators, 10 of them big size generators. He disclosed, the Ministry has allocated a large sum of money within the 2020-2021 budget for the supply and purchase a large number of diesel generators, to implement its plan to establish a diesel generator center for each governorate
