Kuwait braces for frosty weekend, chance of rain
The Meteorological Department has forecast cool days and very cold nights in Kuwait, with a chance of frost.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast cool daytime temperatures and cold to very cold nights across Kuwait, with chances of frost in agricultural and desert areas over the weekend. Scattered rain during the day and fog on Sunday night are also expected.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait is currently under the influence of an extension of a European high-pressure system from the northwest, accompanied by a very cold air mass. The system is expected to lower maximum and minimum temperatures noticeably, with light to moderate northwesterly winds that may occasionally become stronger along coastal areas.

Al-Ali said the winds will also cause rough seas, reinforcing cool daytime temperatures and very cold nights, particularly in desert and agricultural regions. On Sunday, the winds are forecast to shift to southeasterly, with a chance of scattered rain during the day and fog at night.

Thursday weather: Cool, with light to moderate northwesterly winds of 8 to 38 km/h. Scattered clouds are expected. Maximum temperatures will range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate, with waves of 2 to 5 feet.

Thursday night: Cold to very cold, with light to moderate northwesterly winds occasionally reaching 15 to 40 km/h along the coast. Frost may occur in agricultural and desert areas. Minimum temperatures are expected between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius, with seas will be slight to moderate, occasionally rough, and waves of 2 to 6 feet.

Friday night: Cold to very cold, with light to moderate northwesterly winds of 12 to 35 km/h. Frost may occur in agricultural and desert areas. Minimum temperatures will range from 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, and seas slight to moderate, with waves of 2 to 4 feet.

Saturday: Cold to cool, partly cloudy to cloudy, with light to moderate northwesterly to variable winds of 8 to 30 km/h. Frost is possible in desert and agricultural areas. Maximum temperatures will range from 15 to 17 degrees Celsius, with slight to moderate seas and waves of 1 to 4 feet.
