Men, women caught as police bust liquor factory in Qurain

KUWAIT CITY, May 25: The security authorities acting on information raided a house in Al-Qurain which had been turned into a liquor manufacturing factory and arrested four bootleggers — two men and two women, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior.

Armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution the raiding party entered the house and seized 150 barrels of raw material, six gas cylinders, 3 containers full of locally- manufactured alcohol, sugar, yeast and a number of empty containers.

The bootleggers and the contraband have been handed over to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control. The raid was carried out by the Mubarak Al-Kabir Security Command upon orders from the Director-General of Security Command Major-General Farraj Al-Zo’abi. The Public Relations and Security Media Department said the Ministry of Interior is keen to fight the ills in society and has called on the citizens and residents to call 112 in time of need.

Meanwhile, in another development, Hawally securitymen confiscated 309 bottles of locally manufactured liquor from an illegal liquor factory in Salmiya area. According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, when Hawally securitymen received information about the factory, a team was formed for investigations.

After taking necessary legal measures, securitymen led by Salmiya Security Chief Colonel Majid Al-Adwani raided the apartment where the liquor was manufactured, seized 309 liquor bottles and arrested all individuals who were in the apartment. The suspects were referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action
