PARK CITY, Utah, Jan 25:  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance Saturday at the Sundance Film Festival, attending the premiere of Cookie Queens, a documentary they executive produced under their Archewell Productions banner. Their presence added a touch of royalty to the festival’s high-profile guest lineup in snow-covered Park City, Utah.

The couple posed for photos with director Alysa Nahmias, festival director Eugene Hernandez, and Amy Redford, daughter of Sundance founder Robert Redford. Meghan also took time to meet the young girls featured in the film.

Cookie Queens is set during Girl Scout Cookie season and follows four determined girls — Ara, Olive, Nikki, and Shannon Elizabeth — as they compete to become the top-selling “Cookie Queen.” Sundance programmer Stephanie Owens praised the documentary, calling it a “sparkling film” that highlights the girls’ “charm and unsuspecting sharp business tactics.” She added, “Think future Supreme Court justices, CEOs and beyond,” reflecting values Meghan Markle has long championed in her advocacy for girls and women’s empowerment.

The royal couple kept their appearance low-key. Prince Harry wore a black zip-up sleeveless gilet over a long-sleeve black cotton shirt with dark-wash jeans, while Meghan chose a chocolate brown, collarless Anine Bing wrap coat tied at the waist, paired with a black knit sweater and black flared Mother denim jeans. Her hair was styled straight with a middle part, maintaining a sleek and understated look.

The couple’s appearance came just days after Prince Harry returned from the U.K., where he gave testimony in London’s High Court against the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. He became emotional while detailing the impact of the litigation on his family. “Through the course of this litigation, it’s only got worse, not better,” Harry told the court. “It’s fundamentally wrong to put all of us through all of this again. What’s required is an apology and some accountability. It’s a horrible experience.”

Despite his ongoing trial, Harry and Meghan attended the 91-minute Cookie Queens screening on Saturday, Jan. 24. The showing was not publicly announced beforehand, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Owens noted that the documentary “stays focused on the girls and their individual journeys, offering a sincere, playful window into a multimillion-dollar industry powered by their cookie booths. It’s a joyous, heartwarming, utterly sweet ride that cheers on the girls’ grit and ingenuity.”

The Sundance Film Festival continues to bring together a mix of filmmakers, celebrities, and industry leaders, with the Markle-Harry appearance underscoring the festival’s growing blend of cinematic talent and international royalty.
