Massive Captagon Smuggling Attempt Thwarted, 3 Suspects in Custody

KUWAIT CITY, July 27: The Ministry of Interior announced today, that it had thwarted the smuggling of about a million Captagon pills, with the arrest of three suspects of Arab nationality trying to bring into the country through the Shuwaikh port, “hidden in a container “carrying cement building materials in a secret and innovative way.

The General Department of Relations and Security Media at the Ministry confirmed in a press statement that the criminal security sector, in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs and joint coordination between the General Administration for Drug Control in the State of Kuwait and the Drug Control in the State of Qatar, managed to thwart the smuggling operation. The statement indicated that the accused and the seized items are being referred to the competent authorities in order to take all necessary legal measures against them.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Interior expressed its thanks to the Qatari security authorities for the fruitful cooperation with regard to the security of the two countries, especially with regard to the drug epidemic and its dangers towards the two brotherly countries. The statement affirmed the keenness of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to intensify security and follow-up efforts to repel all drug trafficking operations.
