KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: Recent statistics released by the Statistic and Research Department at the Ministry of Justice revealed that instances of marriage between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women within the past 10 years reached 23,251, while 2,408 of them ended in divorce within the first year, reports Al-Qabas daily.

It indicated the rate of divorce between Kuwaiti men and their non- Kuwaiti wives has declined by 3.8 percent and the rate of divorce in all marriages consummated among Kuwaitis dropped by 13.8 percent.

The rate of increase in marriages between Kuwaiti men and their compatriot wives within the past 10 years was 3.7 percent. In 2009, the total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women was 8,550 compared to 2,371 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women. In 2010, the total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women was 8,471 compared to 2,449 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women.

The total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women in 2011 was 8,883 compared to 2,157 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women in the same period, while in 2012, the total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women was 9,455 compared to 2,325 marriages between Kuwaiti men and expatriate women.

Meanwhile, in 2013, the total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women was 9,737 compared to 2,298 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women.

The number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women in 2014 was 9,514 compared to 2,276 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women.

In 2015, the total number of marriages between Kuwaiti men and women was 9,378 compared to 2,306 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non-Kuwaiti women, while in 2016, it was 8,846 compared to 2,316 marriages between Kuwaiti men and non- Kuwaiti women.
