Maritime Security Operation Nets Large Haul of Narcotics in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: In line with the directives of His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and as part of ongoing measures to ensure maritime security and combat smuggling, the General Directorate of the Coast Guard successfully intercepted a significant shipment of narcotics and psychotropic substances during field operations conducted on the seabed in ship waiting areas within Kuwait’s territorial waters.

The operation led to the confiscation of 193 pieces of hashish and 93 pieces of psychotropic drugs, totaling an estimated 10,000 pills, all intended for illegal distribution.

The Directorate emphasized that this seizure forms part of a broader security strategy focused on enhancing coastal monitoring, preventing the smuggling of illicit substances through maritime routes, and safeguarding the country’s territorial waters from exploitation.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to implementing stringent security measures to protect maritime borders and to thwart any attempts at smuggling or security breaches. It also commended the dedication and vigilance of its personnel, whose tireless efforts ensure the safety and security of all maritime zones.
