KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: Secretary General of Walaa National Forum Dr Khadijah Ashkanani filed a petition in the Constitutional Court, challenging the ministerial decision prohibiting citizens from learning through associate studying programs at accredited universities.

In her petition, Ashakanani argued that the decision is unconstitutional as it deprives a significant number of citizens of their right to learn and choose type of learning which they desire, considering the decision in question obliges citizens to study only after taking sabbatical leave which means many people cannot enroll in degree program due to inability to fulfill the condition of taking sabbatical leave.

Ashakanani based her argument on the fact that barring citizens from enrolling in associate study program omits the concept of equal opportunity and equity in the eyes of the law.
