1,043 traffic violations recorded on Jaber Bridge

KUWAIT CITY, May 6: At the time when personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have handed over the suspect – who has been charged with throwing a juice bottle from the Jaber Bridge into the water – to the Environmental Police Department, the Traffic and Operations Sector of the General Traffic Department said the traffic control cameras on the bridge and the Doha connection since the opening of the bridge on May 4, have recorded 1,812 violations – 1,043 violations on Jaber Bridge and 769 at the Doha Link, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the security sources, the Interior Ministry has received several complaints about the dumping of waste from the top of Jaber Bridge into the sea and as per the documentation of their actions with video clips. The daily added, the suspect who threw the bottle of juice into the sea from the bridge was arrested in Hawalli and legal action is being initiated against him. On the same level, the Ministry of the Interior has announced law will be firmly applied on those who dump waste from the Jaber Bridge, pointing out that the penalties range from imprisonment for a period not less than one year and not more than three years and a fine not less than five thousand dinars and not more than fifty thousand dinars.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the Environment Police patrols will in coordination with the Environment Public Authority run round-the-clock checks along the Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge to control waste disposal violations in the framework of the efforts of control bad environmental behavior.
