KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is reportedly preparing to implement a unified electronic system for all prize draws and competitions conducted by companies and banks, as part of a broader initiative to enhance transparency and integrity in these events.
According to informed sources, the new system will be mandatory for all companies organizing prize draws. The system is being designed with advanced technical standards and regulatory safeguards to ensure that the selection of winners is fully automated, leaving no room for human intervention. This approach will effectively eliminate traditional manual draws, as well as self-regulated processes currently carried out either by companies or by ministry supervisors.
The sources explained that banks already employ electronic systems for their prize draws, and the ministry plans to expand and standardize this framework across all sectors. Under the proposed system, an external auditor will be required to oversee every draw, regardless of the prize value. Auditors will be rotated periodically to maintain impartiality. Additionally, detailed records of all draws will be maintained and integrated into the annual internal auditing plan, ensuring accountability and traceability of results.
Officials from the Ministry of Commerce are currently developing comprehensive regulatory controls for the conduct of automated prize draws and competitions. These regulations will include criteria for selecting approved systems, as well as auditing and accounting standards that must be strictly followed. The goal is to strengthen transparency, fairness, and discipline in all future draws, safeguarding both participants and companies.
The initiative reflects Kuwait’s commitment to modernizing commercial oversight and leveraging digital solutions to promote integrity in corporate practices.
