Man trying to sell ‘police car’ arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: An unidentified individual was arrested for attempting to sell a vehicle which is similar to those used by patrol officers affiliated to Ministry of Interior, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The General Department for Public Relations and Media Security of Ministry of Interior explained that the Cyber Crime Division of General Department for Criminal Evidences, after discovering an online advertisement for the sale of a patrol vehicle, launched investigations to find the person responsible for the advertisement.

Eventually, the suspect was arrested. When questioned, he insisted that he is not trying to sell a patrol vehicle but a vehicle that looks similar to a patrol vehicle. He was referred to the concerned authorities for further investigations and necessary legal action. The department warned people of Kuwait against misuse of computers, smartphones and social media.

Meanwhile, two youths sustained various degrees of injuries in Abdullah Al-Mubarak area as they exchanged blows due to a previous disagreement, says Al-Seyassah. A security source said the Operations Room of the Interior ministry received a distress call concerning a bloody fight involving two youths and sent a rescue team to the scene. The feuding parties were taken to hospitals in Farwaniya and Jahra areas respectively for treatment to prevent yet another dispute.

Blatant violation: A traffic lance corporal has filed a complaint with the Fintas Police Station accusing a Kuwait youth, his brother and father of assaulting him, reports Al-Anba daily. In his complaint, the lance corporal said he stopped the youth for breaching traffic rules while driving on the Fahaheel Expressway. When he demanded to see the youth’s driving licence and ID, the latter instead of obeying attempted to run over the man in uniform and escaped and drove off. The complainant pursued the youth until he pulled over in front of a house in Fintas. At this point the father and brother of the youth came out of the house and assaulted him as he ordered the motorist to get into his vehicle. The father also threatened to shoot the lance corporal with a hunting gun and helped the suspect to escape. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
