Malayalam actress Priya dies of a heart attack at 35

KERALA, India, Nov 1, (Agencies): Popular Malayalam television actress Priya passed away on Wednesday due to a heart attack. The 35-year-old, who was eight months pregnant, was undergoing routine pregnancy check-ups at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, in the southern Indian state of Kerala when she suffered a fatal heart attack, as reported by Indian media.

Her newborn is currently receiving care in the intensive care unit. Priya is survived by her mother, daughter, and husband Saravanan.

Actor Kishor Satya, Priya’s former colleague, shared the news of her untimely demise with her fans on Instagram. According to Satya, Priya had no underlying health issues that could have led to the cardiac arrest.

In a heartfelt post originally composed in Malayalam, he expressed, “Her mother and husband are inconsolable. How can I console them? I cannot fathom why such cruelty has befallen them, considering they are devout individuals. Many questions remain unanswered.”

The actor concluded his note by offering prayers for the family’s comfort. “How can we provide solace to the family of someone who departed so young? She was just 35 years old. I hope her mother and husband find the strength to endure this loss.”

Priya was a well-known figure in the Malayalam television industry, gaining recognition for her role in the romantic TV show “Karuthamuthu,” which became the second longest-running television soap opera in Malayalam television. Kishor Sathya worked with Priya on the same show.

After her marriage, Priya, who was also a doctor, took a break from acting. According to Manorama, she was pursuing an MD and working at PRS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. She is survived by her mother, daughter, and husband Saravanan.

Priya’s demise follows the recent passing of another Malayalam actress, Renjusha Menon, who was found dead at her residence in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, at the age of 34. Her death has led to speculation of suicide, and the Kerala police are investigating the circumstances.
