Major Narcotics Bust in Kuwait, Gang of 8 Arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2: The Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Relations and Security Media has reported a significant development in the ongoing efforts of the Criminal Security Sector to combat criminal activities related to narcotics, smuggling, and trafficking. In a recent operation, the General Department for Narcotics Control successfully dismantled a criminal gang comprising eight individuals, including one citizen and five individuals of Asian nationality, along with two Bedouns. These individuals were apprehended while attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics into the country, which included approximately 140 kilograms of narcotic hashish and 50,000 Captagon pills, using sea routes.

The operation unfolded as a result of meticulous search and investigative procedures conducted by law enforcement officials. Acting on intelligence suggesting that two individuals were planning to smuggle narcotics into the country via sea routes, authorities initiated round-the-clock surveillance and gathered the necessary legal approvals. Subsequently, the suspects were apprehended, and during questioning, they admitted to carrying five bags containing approximately 120 kilograms of hashish and 50,000 Captagon tablets.

Furthermore, authorities received information regarding the imminent arrival of a vessel carrying a cargo of narcotics. After taking appropriate measures, the vessel was closely monitored upon its arrival in the country. As a result, four individuals of Asian nationality were apprehended, all of whom were involved in concealing roughly 20 kilograms of narcotic hashish in a covert manner. It was discovered that the recipients of the illicit cargo were two illegal residents, who were also found in possession of 30 grams of narcotics.

The General Department emphasizes that all the accused individuals and confiscated items have been handed over to the relevant authorities to initiate the necessary legal proceedings against them. This successful operation represents a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes and safeguard the nation’s security.
