KUWAIT CITY, May 25: As part of ongoing security campaigns to combat drug-related crimes and strengthen community safety, the Capital Governorate Security Directorate, represented by the Security and Guards Department, has arrested an individual during a field patrol operation on suspicion of narcotics possession and distribution activities.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrest followed suspicions raised during routine patrol duties, leading officers to discover a range of substances believed to be narcotics along with equipment used for preparation and packaging.
Authorities said the seized items included 23 pills suspected to be the narcotic substance “Lyrica,” two bags containing a white powder believed to be narcotics, 14 pieces suspected to be hashish, and a bag containing approximately half a kilogram of suspected marijuana. Officers also recovered six rolling papers, three sensitive weighing scales used for drug preparation, and multiple empty packaging bags, indicating possible involvement in drug distribution and trafficking.
The suspect, along with the seized materials, has been referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to continuing intensive security operations across all regions to combat drug trafficking networks and protect society, particularly youth, from the dangers of narcotics. It stressed that security personnel will remain vigilant against any activities that threaten public safety.
The Ministry also urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious behaviour or activities through the emergency hotline 112.
