KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: The Volleyball Federation has temporarily suspended the national league due to maintenance work at the Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex.
Assistant Secretary Naif Al-Khumaili confirmed on the federation’s X account:
"The federation has decided to halt preliminary round matches of the public category league starting today until February 14, due to maintenance in the hall."
Al-Khumaili added that the maintenance aims to fully prepare the venue, ensuring teams compete in top-level, fully equipped facilities.
Meanwhile, in the seventh round of the league, Kuwait Club defeated Sulaibikhat 3-0, while Qadsia also won 3-0 over Al-Nasr.
With these results, Kuwait Club strengthened its position at the top with 20 points, followed by Qadsia in second with 16 points, and Al-Arabi in third with 15 points. Kazma occupies fourth place (ahead of Sulaibikhat in fifth by set difference), each with 11 points. Burgan is sixth with 10 points, Al-Shabab seventh with 7 points, Al-Yarmouk eighth with 3 points, Al-Nasr remains ninth, and Al-Sahel is last without points.
The league format has teams compete in a single-section preliminary round. The top six teams advance to the Premier League stage, divided into three groups. The team with the most wins in this stage is crowned champion, while the first-place team in the preliminary round earns an advantage in the next stage for finishing first.
