Mai Al-Badr creates history, wins bronze medal for Kuwait in World Free Diving Championship

KUWAIT CITY, May 11:  Kuwaiti athlete Mai Al-Bader made history by winning a bronze medal in the “Master” competition of the World Free Diving Championship, recording 4:42.87 minutes. This is the first medal ever recorded for Kuwait in this championship. The results of the “Master” competition for ages over 55 were announced with French Lawrence Guegen winning the gold medal and Germany’s Weisman Brigitte winning the silver medal.

In the “holding breath from steadfastness” competition for men aged 18 to 49 years old, “professionals,” Serbian Marko Petrović won the gold medal, while in the same competition for women, German Heikki Schordtner won the gold medal. The championship’s competitions continued for the third day, and the winners in each category were announced, marking a milestone for the athletes who competed.
