NEW DELHI, Dec 16, (Agencies): Mahesh Kumawat, the sixth accused in the Parliament security breach, was arrested by Delhi Police on charges of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. Mahesh had connected with the main accused Lalit Mohan Jha and the others via a Facebook group called ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Page’. He will be produced before the Patiala House Court today.

Meanwhile, Lalit Jha, the key accused in Parliament security breach, was Friday sent to 7-day police custody by Delhi’s Patiala House Court. Delhi Police’s counsel said the accused has “confessed” that he is the “prime conspirator” in the case and that he needs to be taken to various states to recover evidence.

Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh further stated that the phones need to be recovered to uncover the conspiracy. The police got the 7-day remand of the other four accused yesterday after they said an in-depth investigation was necessary to unearth the larger conspiracy behind their acts.

In other news, the Delhi Assembly was adjourned yesterday after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly opposing the regularization of MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) workers. Speaking in the House, AAP MLA and MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak said, “What the BJP could not do when it was in power in the MCD for 15 years was accomplished by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in just six months.”
