MANILA, Philippines, Oct 9: A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Pugo, La Union at around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The tremor had a depth of 23 kilometers.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Pugo and Tubao, La Union, as well as in Baguio City. Intensity 3 was reported in Itogon, Benguet; Villasis, Pangasinan; and San Fernando, La Union.
In a radio interview, Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol stated that no aftershocks are expected. He also clarified that this earthquake was not connected to the magnitude 6.9 quake that recently hit Bogo City, Cebu.
