LOS ANGELES, Jan 1: Nigel Lythgoe vehemently denies the sexual assault allegations leveled against him by Paula Abdul, responding to the accusations made in a lawsuit filed earlier this week at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In her legal filing, the American Idol judge claims that Lythgoe sexually assaulted her on two occasions during their collaboration on the singing competition show So You Think You Can Dance. Paula Abdul is pursuing legal action against the 71-year-old producer, citing charges of “sexual assault/battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, and negligence.”

In a statement provided to TMZ, Lythgoe expresses shock and sadness at Paula’s allegations, considering them a wild understatement. He emphasizes that their relationship has been dear and entirely platonic for over two decades while working as friends and colleagues. Lythgoe discloses that he learned of the claims “out of the blue” and finds them not only false but deeply offensive.

Despite the unexpected nature of the lawsuit, Nigel Lythgoe pledges to fight against what he perceives as an appalling smear with all his resources. While unable to comprehend why Paula Abdul would file what he believes to be an untrue lawsuit, he remains committed to challenging the allegations and defending his reputation against what he considers a baseless attack.
