KUWAIT CITY, April 27: A routine dawn patrol in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area turned into an unexpected arrest operation after two young men were detained on suspicion of consuming alcohol and found in a heavily intoxicated state, authorities said.
According to a security source, the incident unfolded at approximately 4:30 am when a patrol unit noticed a vehicle moving through the area at an unusual hour. Officers decided to stop and question the occupants after their presence during the early morning raised suspicion.
When asked a simple question — “Where are you going at this time?” — the driver reportedly replied that they were heading out for lunch at a well-known restaurant that only opens around 10:00 am, a response that immediately drew further scrutiny from the officers.
On closer observation, security personnel noted that both occupants appeared disoriented and showed clear signs of intoxication. Their behavior and incoherent explanation heightened suspicions that they were under the influence of alcohol.
A search of the vehicle later confirmed those suspicions, as officers discovered a nearly empty transparent bottle containing what is believed to be imported liqour.
The two young men were immediately taken into custody and transferred to the Shuwaikh Police Station. Following initial questioning, the investigating officer ordered their detention pending further legal procedures.
Authorities have launched further inquiries into the source of the alcohol, while reaffirming continued strict enforcement against violations related to public safety and substance abuse.
