Lufthansa airlines suspends 800 flights

BERLIN, Sept 1: Lufthansa Airlines Group will suspend 800 international and local flights to and from Germany because of a strike by pilots demanding higher pay. According to a statement by Lufthansa, the strike will affect 130,000 passengers and will last until Sunday, adding that pilots of Lufthansa’s Eurowings and Eurowings Discover voted in favor of the strike action. Lufthansa’s group have been suffering from a shortage of pilots after dismissing a large number in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.(KUNA)
