GUJARAT, India, Oct 16, (Agencies): A heart-wrenching love triangle in Ahmedabad, Gujarat took a deadly turn when a young man brutally murdered his friend, and what followed was a shocking sequence of events that left the community in disbelief.
The victim, Swapnil Prajapati, 22, was fatally attacked by his close acquaintance, Vedant Raja, on October 14. The motive behind this gruesome crime was a prolonged disagreement, fueled by romantic interests, which had caused a deep rift between the two young men.
According to the ongoing investigation, it appears that on that fateful day, Raja lured Prajapati to Vishwakarma Bridge, where the tragic murder took place. The police are now seeking interviews with the woman at the center of this love triangle and any friends who might provide insights into the discord that led to this horrific incident.
In a bizarre and unsettling turn of events, Vedant Raja, 22, an undergraduate student in commerce and the son of a businessman from New Zealand, arrived at the Sola Police Station around 4 a.m. on October 15. He calmly informed the officers, "My car in the parking lot has a body inside."
Initial investigations have pointed to a motive rooted in a complicated love triangle involving both young men. Raja has since been taken into custody and formally charged with the murder of Swapnil Prajapati.
A subsequent examination of the body revealed eight severe stab wounds, bearing witness to the brutality of the crime.
Swapnil's father, Hasmukh Prajapati, expressed his concern in the FIR, stating that his son had left their home on the afternoon of October 14 and failed to return by nightfall. Desperate attempts to reach him around 8 p.m. went unanswered. The following morning, officers arrived at their doorstep with a visibly shaken Raja, leading them to the heart-wrenching discovery of Swapnil's lifeless body inside an SUV parked at the police station. This tragedy has left the community in shock and disbelief.
