LOS ANGELES, Nov 7, (Agencies): Elizabeth Hirschhorn, often dubbed the "tenant from hell," was forcefully removed from the Los Angeles guesthouse she had allegedly occupied for a staggering 575 days without paying rent. This eviction took place on a Friday, ending a prolonged legal battle.

Sacha Jovanovic, the property owner, initially crossed paths with Hirschhorn in September 2021 when she booked a six-month stay at his Brentwood guesthouse via Airbnb. The Brentwood property boasted luxurious amenities such as a pool, a rooftop tennis court, a fully equipped fitness center, and private patios for each suite.

However, what was meant to be a half-year arrangement turned into a bizarre 575-day saga, with Hirschhorn seemingly enjoying the lavish surroundings rent-free. In response to this untenable situation, Jovanovic filed a formal complaint against Hirschhorn.

The eviction process was far from straightforward, with the involvement of several Los Angeles Police Department officers who were dispatched to the guesthouse in Brentwood's Crestwood Hills neighborhood. They were on hand to ensure that Hirschhorn's belongings were safely removed by professional movers.

On a subsequent Monday, Jovanovic's attorney, Sebastian Rucci, filed a notice of voluntary dismissal without prejudice in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. While the eviction case was dismissed as per the judge's decision, the case for damages against Hirschhorn remains ongoing, as confirmed by Rucci.

The legal documents indicated that Hirschhorn's departure, accompanied by a police escort, was seen as an apparent act of abandonment. In light of this, the locks were promptly changed, and the property was reclaimed by Jovanovic.

Rucci disclosed that the police were summoned due to the unexpected arrival of movers who were helping Hirschhorn with her relocation. It appeared that she had not informed Jovanovic about this, which led to confusion and ultimately the involvement of law enforcement.

Email correspondence between Rucci and another party revealed a brief misstep when the locks were changed immediately upon Hirschhorn's exit. Her lawyer had expressed her intention to return after leaving, to which Rucci responded that she was not permitted to do so, placing the onus on her to regain possession through the legal system.

Jovanovic expressed his relief and sense of being overwhelmed by Hirschhorn's removal from his property, remarking that it was a long-awaited resolution to a challenging situation.
