Little tales of Kuwait take shape in color on canvass

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: Amidst acrylic paints and paintbrushes, small tales about Kuwait began to take shapes on paintings created by young artists to express their love for their homeland through their art during the “National Works” workshop. Organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) as part of the “Summer Cultural Festival 18” at the Museum of Modern Art, the workshop involves young male and female participants, aged 12 to 17. Under the direction of visual artist Yaqoub Al-Jiran, they are creating their own artistic visions of ancient and modern Kuwait, including its national holidays and occasions. Speaking to KUNA on Monday, Al-Jiran elaborated that the workshop focuses on helping participants plan their works, develop, execute and color their thoughts. He added that while some participants have prior experience in drawing and training, others are taking part for the first time. For her part, Acting Director of the NCCAL’s Visual Arts Department Sarah Khalaf told KUNA that the workshop aims to instil feelings of love, loyalty, and a sense of belonging to the homeland among the youth by using art and drawing to express their feelings toward Kuwait.
