Liquor factories busted

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13: The Search and Investigation Unit of the General Department for Residency Investigations recently launched a comprehensive security campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area during which 13 expatriates working in places other than their sponsors were arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for official procedures. Meanwhile, officials from the Domestic Labor Department affiliated to the General Department of Residency Affairs arrested eight African and Asian expatriates for operating bogus domestic labor bureaus in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area.

The suspects were accused of assisting domestic workers to escape from their sponsors so that they can be sold to other people, which is a violation of the Constitution. Meanwhile, two security campaigns were carried out in Hawally and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates during which security operatives discovered two liquor factories in Qosur and Salmiya areas. According to security sources, when Mubarak Al-Kabeer officers received information about some Asian expatriates running a liquor factory in Qosur area, they monitored the location until the information was confirmed. They then raided the factory, arrested five Asian expatriates and confiscated 245 barrels, four water distillers and a bus used for distribution of readymade liquor. In addition, Hawally securitymen raided the location in Salmiya where they arrested two Asian expatriates and seized some barrels and 51 bottles of liquor.

Indian held with liquor: Officers attached to Farwaniya Security Command caught an Indian man in possession of liquor in Khaitan area, says Al-Seyasaah. The officers were patrolling the area to ensure security and safety when they noticed the suspect was trying to drive in the opposite traffic direction as an escape route. They chased and conducted a precautionary search inside his car and recovered the hidden liquor. The officers have since referred the suspect for prosecution. Meanwhile, security operatives from Hawalli Command apprehended a Bedoun wanted for evading two years jail term over theft and fraud.
