KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Ministry of Interior said tackling smuggling of drugs and alcohol is the top priority, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The Criminal Security Sector of the ministry said the statistics for the third quarter of this year indicate the diversity in the control of the quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances, adding about 464 kilos of cannabis and more than 63 kilos of other substances were seized including 20 kilos of shabu, 7 kilos of heroin, 27 kilos of marijuana, 7.6 kilos of chemical, in addition to 27,495 bottles of whisky.

Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, Major-General Khalid Al-Dayeen affirmed strenuous efforts exerted by the security personnel with support provided by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lieut- General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah, and follow-up of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior contributed to the continuation of preventive operations in accordance with the strategy adopted by the Criminal Security Sector and the pursuit of monitoring the activity of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

Two Kuwaitis held: The Ahmadi police have arrested two Kuwaitis, one of them who was wanted by law in three theft cases and the other in an unidentified number of cases, reports Al-Rai daily. They were seized while seated inside a car parked in a suspicious manner at an unidentified location. During interrogation at a police station they admitted to committing many thefts and breaking into cars and robbing valuables and also impersonating police and robbing expatriates.
