KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: The Criminal Court overturned the ruling sentencing a citizen in absentia to life in prison for raping a minor, reports Al-Seyassah. The court acquitted the citizen after the defense raised doubts on the evidence presented by the prosecution and affirmed that there is no proof of his guilt. Case files indicate that during the investigation, the father of the supposed victim said he noticed a change in the attitude of his daughter. When he asked her about it, she told him she was in a relationship with the accused and another man.

The father added that the accused raped his daughter. The accused denied the charges, and his lawyer, Attorney Bashar Al-Nassar, argued orally on the lack of conclusive evidence against his client. He pointed out that the plaintiff did not recognize the telephone number of the accused, and that her telephone has no record of calls from him. Al-Nassar also highlighted contradictions in the statements of the victim, who claimed that the encounter occurred in the vehicle of the accused in April, but the accused proved that he acquired the vehicle in September.
