LOS ANGELES, Sept 30, (Agencies): Michael Oher’s request to terminate his conservatorship under Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy has been approved.

The former NFL star, whose life inspired the Oscar-nominated film “The Blind Side,” entered into an agreement in 2004 when he was just 18 years old, granting the Tuohys control over his finances while he lived with their family and pursued high school football.

On a recent Friday, Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes announced the termination of the conservatorship. In his petition, filed in August, the now 37-year-old Oher claimed that the Tuohy family had deceived him into appointing them as his conservators, allegedly asserting that there was no substantial difference between being adopted and entering into a conservatorship.

“Michael placed his trust in the Tuohys and signed where they directed him to,” the legal filing stated. “However, what he unknowingly signed, until after February 2023, were not adoption papers, nor the equivalent thereof.”

Gomes expressed her concern over the fact that the Tuohys had been granted conservatorship over Oher, as reported by ESPN.

A spokesperson for the Tuohy family has stated that they have no plans to issue a statement in response to the judge’s decision.
