Lebanon’s president condemns Israeli strikes as “barbaric,” reports heavy civilian damage
President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun

BEIRUT, Apr 8: Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun strongly condemned a series of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and other areas on Wednesday, describing the attacks as “barbaric” and accusing Israel of carrying out a “new massacre” in the country.

In a statement, Aoun said Israel bears full responsibility, warning that continued aggressive actions “will only lead to further tension and instability” at a time when de-escalation is urgently needed.

The strikes, carried out during rush hour, reportedly hit multiple residential areas across Beirut and other regions, destroying entire buildings and leaving neighborhoods covered in dust and debris. Rescue teams continued searching through rubble for survivors, while hospitals were overwhelmed with casualties and issued urgent calls for blood donations.
