Lebanon Nabs Turkish Smugglers with 20kg Captagon Bound for Kuwait

BEIRUT, Aug 22: Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Hajjar, commended the Lebanese Airport Security Service for a major drug bust carried out on Friday at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut. Officers from the Airport Inspection Unit, part of the Security Unit of Embassies, Administrations, and Public Institutions within the Internal Security Forces, arrested four Turkish nationals attempting to travel to Kuwait via the VIP lounge.

The suspects were found carrying around 20 kilograms of Captagon, concealed in belts strapped to their bodies.

Minister Hajjar confirmed that investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

The Interior Ministry reiterated its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and smuggling operations through Lebanon, stressing that the issue remains a top priority as part of efforts to safeguard both Lebanese society and that of neighboring countries.
